Extremely rare B-Series Alpa from the very first pre-production run in 1941/42 with a prototype Voigtländer Ultron 50mm f/2 with brass front rim. Only 600 cameras have been produced in the „11.000“ Series of which many have either been converted, upgraded or have been replaced with later cameras. Only very few are still known to exist. The coated Voigtländer Ultron is the only known specimen in Alpa mount. There is no other Voigtländer lens in Alpa mount that we are aware of. It seems that a collaboration between Pignons S.A. and Voigtländer was not successfull. With matching brown leather case, marked GERMANY. The B-Series (Series 11.000 as called factory internally) has been the first attempt to produce the Alpa in series. After approximately 600 examples production stopped (highest number known to exist is 11567 and has been given to an Alpa in 1942). The first (so called A series) have been the Alpa prototypes (Viteflex and Teleflex) of which only 20-30 cameras have been produced. Literature: Lothar Thewes, ALPA 50 Jahre anders als andere.
