one of the rarest Leica accessories, in 100% original condition, special viewfinder, engraved 'E.LEITZ INC. NEW YORK, PATENT PENDING, modified PLOOT mirror housing no. 2596, modified Leica IIIa no.199050 from 1936, with special engraving 'N.R.L.' and 'NP001/1', with Telyt 4.5/20cm no.272937, scale in feet, hood. E. Leitz New York launched the Leica gun rifle in 1938; developped in 1935 til 1937, it was only produced for one year til 1939, the code word for this outfit was 'RIFLE'. The outfit was inspired by the Italian Commander Attilio Gatti, a well known wildlife photographer. Estimates about the actual production number differ strongly; however we assume a production of in total 12 to 14 units being justified.
