The Stereo Elmar OWENO was the original construction of a stereo lens for the Leica, which was created between 1937 and 1942 and on the basis of which the later designs of the well-known Stemar lenses were made. Only about 30 pieces were delivered during the war. The Stereo Elmar is one of the great rarities today, of which only a few are still in existence.
The lens offered is in an extremely beautiful state of preservation, the optics with a slight, age-typical haze. Complete with stereo VIDOM in fitted outfit case, labeled "E. Leitz Wetzlar".
Included: Aluminum rear cap (WWII)
Literature: Friedrich Rüttinger, "Stereophotographie mit Leitz-Kameras", Vidom 22, p. 3ff.; James L. Lager, "Leica, an illustrated History", Vol. III (accessories), p. 277ff.
