Leitz Summicron 90mm f/2 Prototype
Extremely rare experimental 9 cm Summicron of Wetzlar production. Three test samples with numbers 0000038, 0000039 and (the here offered lens with number) 0000046 were produced still three years before the market launch of the later SOOZI, which was manufactured by E. Leitz Canada from 1957. The design shows some clear deviations from the later series. The aperture index and setting ring are designed differently. The front shows an unusual stepped down configuration, where the test number is engraved on the side. The name ring engraved with "Nr.", but without a number. Also the optical formula still corresponded to a different version, which resulted in a shorter overall length. Used condition. The optics with fungus, slight haze and linear coating defects. The helicoid engraved "Germany".
