Experimental Vario-Elmar-R for the Leica R system. With engraving of the project number on the name ring. The first three digits "517" indicate the product category (R-lenses), the second three digits "611" indicate the project within this category (this version 35-70 mm) and the last digit "2" indicate the serial number of the lens. Other known project numbers begin with 518 (SLR-cameras), 500 (M-lenses) or 501 (M-cameras).
The optics with haze, coating defects, slight scratches inside and cleaning marks on the front element.
