It is probably the rarest 50mm M39 Leica screw mount lens in the world. The Ross Xtralux 50mm f/2. This lens was specially requested by Leica users around 1948. Ross London used to be making large format lenses and movie lenses and some Leica users around that period which where most likely addicted to this brand, asked for a M39 lens with the highest quality from Ross. In Cook & Perkins rangefinder-coupled mount (see C&P engraving on the barrel). During handling and research, inspecting and studying this lens, most of these lenses have (faint) edge separation in the second element. The 5cm Xtralux lens is a 4-group 6-element Double Gauss type. The Ross Xtralux was made as 50mm, 90mm and 135mm lenses. This lens was announced in 1948 and was advertised in 1949. The offered lens is in TOP condition, no haze, no separation, a few thin cleaning marks only - TOP quality. It is said that less than 20 specimens of this lens were ever made.
